GALLERY 3

In ‘Undoing’ Digby and Willson discuss a reimagining of the image, and the experiences currently surrounding this entity, using tactility and subjectivity in drawing and collage. The project looks to multi-media shrapnel and deficient bits: the way we cut them up, wear them, and the way our bodies and our screens are imbued with them. ‘Undoing’ is a further iteration of Torrents, shown earlier this year at Brunswick Lake. Together the projects consider the relationship between the reproduction and degradation of an image, and the unfeasible real or authentic.

Danny Digby has recently held exhibitions at Brunswick Lake, Melbourne; Stills Gallery, Sydney (curated by Bronwyn Rennex & Jo Skinner, 2015); Project Space/Spare Room (curated by Anabelle LaCroix & Peter Hill, 2014); Geelong Gallery, Victoria (curated by Lisa Sullivan, 2014); Obscura Festival, Malaysia (with Asia Pacific Photobook Archive, curated by Daniel Boetker-Smith, 2014). His publications Endpaper and Passing Through are held in the collection of The State Library of Victoria. He graduated with a BFA from RMIT University in Melbourne in 2013.

Holly Willson is an artist based In Melbourne. She graduated from Elam School of Fine Arts in Auckland, with a BFA in 2007. Recent exhibitions include Peace of Mind, Rm Gallery, Auckland (with Kieren Seymour, 2015), Torrents, at Brunswick Lake 2015, Melbourne and Building out of Sound, TCB Art Inc, Melbourne (with Alexandra Savtchenko-Belskaia, 2013). Holly was a founder and director of Newcall Gallery, an artist-run initiative in Auckland from 2008 -2010.
