si ma va lonsdale2525 (An Act of Showing)

Opening: Wednesday 17 May, 6pm Dates: May 17 – 27

‘lonsdale2525’ is a work by si ma va for Bus Projects ruminating on the accessibility and subsequent effectiveness an exhibitor is afforded in the act of showing. Working inside out, the gallery’s keys, archive of each exhibitor since 2001, list of contacts, contractual papers, passwords and doorstop rock are displayed as a latent offering.

‘lonsdale2525’ is presented as part of An Act of Showing: ARIs and Place. Set as a material conversation between Artist Run Initiatives (ARIs) and Aboriginal Art Centres in Australia and the Asia-Pacific, this project embodies and provokes conversations about place: How does place matter for artists? Why do ARIs exist in specific places? What is the place of practice?

This exhibition includes creative responses from AirSpace Projects, Articulate Project Space, BUS Projects, Blak Dot Gallery, BLINDSIDE, Boomalli Aboriginal Artists Cooperative, Boxcopy, c3 Contemporary Art Space, Cementa, FELTspace, Garage Gallery, Katie Paine, One Place After Another, Open-Contemporary Art Centre (Taipei), Raygun Projects, Ruang MES 56 (Yogyakarta), Sawtooth, Trocadero Art Space, The Laundry Art Space, The Walls, Waringarri Arts, Watch This Space, West Space and more…
