Max Creasy Tendencies To

Opening: Tuesday 12 June, 6-8pm Dates: 12-30 June 2007

The basis for Creasy’s photographic work is the architecture of Enrico Taglietti. Taglietti is an Italian architect that immigrated to Australia, specifically Canberra and built an array of buildings there between 1960 and 1980. His work is a mixture of a modern and organic style.

The photographs on display in the gallery document the work of Taglietti but also match off different ideas of modern and organic, natural and unnatural through the buildings and there locations paying particular interest to the Australian landscape. Each photograph is shot with a similar objective architectural style that helps to draw comparisons between the images.

Max Creasy was born in Adelaide, Australia in 1976. He studied at the Photography Studies College from 1996-98 and in 2009 he completed a Masters of Art at the College of Fine Arts, UNSW. Creasy has completed commissions for the Australian Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale and John Wardle Architects. His work is included in Dr. Anne Marsh’s recent publication LOOK : Contemporary Australian Photography Since 1980. In 2011 Creasy will hold solo exhibitions at the Centre for Contemporary Photography, Melbourne and James Dorahy Project Space, Sydney.
